“ At Evolve, our agenda is simple, we are a team of experts committed to helping our clients get the best results possible. No matter the issue, we are only focused on getting our clients back to their best.”
Blending Pilates with Physiotherapy, Evolve Wellness Centre Byron Bay, utilises this combination along with Sports Massage and Mindfulness Meditation for a holistic approach to wellbeing.
Director and Physiotherapist, Scott Thomson, draws from years of experience working with some of Sydney and Melbourne’s elite sports people to bring cutting-edge techniques to Byron Bay. The death of a good friend was a catalyst for Scott to seek a different lifestyle, choosing to move from Bronte to Byron Bay, to open his wellness clinic.
“Working in Sydney and Melbourne as a Physio there is a lot of competition and high client expectation, which motivated me to keep improving. I also had great opportunities and experiences over the years being involved with services for organisations as diverse as Dance Medicine Australia and the Australian Ballet, WSL Pro Surfers, AIS Boxing Program, Athletics Australia, the NSW Waratahs and everything in between!
“This has allowed me to be of great service to local groups here such as The Byron Ballet, The Byron Bay Runners, The Academy Martial Arts, The Bangalow Rebels Rugby Club and the local surfing community. I have absolutely loved being able to offer our services to this delightful community,” Scott said.
Scott explains that the integration of Pilates with Physiotherapy and Sports Massage is designed for both recovery and elite training.
“Physio’s gravitate towards using the Pilates method for a reason, it is the safest, most practical and functional way to progress a client along their road to recovery. It also gives us an elite tool for performance training with sport, dance and life. We integrate Sports Massage because we understand that it can help recovery and maintain a balance between strength and flexibility to prevent injury,” he said.
Scott has also studied in chronic pain treatment methods, allowing him to specialise in complex issues and pathologies to help clients where previous treatments have failed. As injuries and pain can be a tricky balance between physical and non-physical factors, Scott and his colleague Jessica have studied Mindfulness Meditation, finding it to be an effective tool for the management of non-physical factors.
“We facilitate 6 weeks introduction to Mindfulness courses that we navigate some of our clients towards throughout the year.”
Evolve Byron Bay – Physiotherapy & Pilates enjoy sharing their message of wellness with the community, offering free workshops throughout the year. There is an upcoming Women’s Health and Pelvic Floor Conditioning event.
