Meet the Optometrist
Born in Israel, Michael was passionate about eyecare from the get-go. He completed his optometry studies in Israel and worked in the College of Optometry as a clinic supervisor in the contact lens clinic, the behaviour optometry clinic and its general eye clinics. He worked and managed the special contact lens clinic at Saint John Ophthalmic Hospital in Jerusalem for many years. He has expanded his experience in both corporate and private clinics before transitioning to Specsavers. His move to Bailey Nelson is one he is excited to progress within.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO BYRON BAY?
“I emigrated from Israel 9 years ago to the Byron Shire and fell in love with the area at first sight. The lush green surrounds, the beautiful beaches and the sense of community are the pieces of the puzzle that make Byron hard to resist.”
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING AN OPTOMETRIST?
“I love meeting new people, I enjoy listening to people’s needs. Every patient is unique and has a different journey in life, it’s only in a one-on-one that you can find that uniqueness.”
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?
“I have a wife and three great kids whom I love spending time with. I love camping, mostly in the bush and inland, away from civilisation and mobile phone reception. In my spare time I enjoy reading and studying.”
